Ice Cream and Waterlillies

Last weekend my sister, Mia, came to visit and we decided to enjoy the beautiful warm, sunny weather with a trip to Burnby Hall Gardens. Famous for it’s lake with beautiful waterlillies, we (and Mia particularly) were more interested in seeing the strangely bizarre museum of stuffed animals, photos and momentos from Major Percy Stewart’s various world tours in the early 1900’s. Unfortunately, when we got there the museum was closed for renovation (which I hope does not mean that it will loose it’s charming quirkyness!), but there was a brass band playing! Many of the lilies were blooming, and we were able to feed the incredibly inquisitive Koi carp, and - of course - have an ICE CREAM!

After several very pleasant hours at the gardens, we came back to my place, where I managed to rustle up a very delicious, impromptu, bar-b-que to round off what had been a most enjoyable and sociable day!
