Stupid Economy

Last Sunday we had quite a treat! James and I went to the newly opened Hull Truck Theatre . The theatre itself was lovely - bigger than before but not so huge it lost it's cosy, intimate feeling and with new comfy seats and a funky, circular stage. The bar / box office area was rather 'industrial' and felt like it wasn't quite finished (maybe it isn't?). Having the main doors fully open to let smokers in/out made it rather drafty which was a shame. Nevertheless, I'm a big fan of provincial theatre, so I'm sure I will be going again.

We went to see comedian, Mark Thomas. I've been a big fan of his Channel 4 series for several years and love his style of political campaigning mixed with comedy. That's the way to get the message accross. Obviously there was lots of discussion about MPs expenses, but the main purpose of Mark's tour was to set a rival political manifesto, and then campaign for his policies. At each stage of his tour, we all submit suggestions, Mark talks about them, and then we vote for the one's we want him to campaign about. In Hull, the topics we voted to include were:

Abolish the Humber Bridge Toll
Change to a 3-day weekend

Both brilliant suggestions, I'm sure you will agree! However do take a look at his website and see what was voted for elsewhere. I particularly like the policy from Newbury!!
